The Malaysia Esports League (MEL) 2022 for Free Fire category has come to a close last weekend (Oct 15th-16th).


The entire event were separated into two (2) stages; State Qualifiers &amp; National Championship. Each state/federal territory had their own qualifiers which sent the best team to represent their state. 16 teams advanced into the National Championship.


The National Championship had two (2) sub-stages; Semi-Finals on Day 1 and Grand Finals on Day 2. On Day 1, 16 teams were split into two (2) groups of 8 where every group played 5 matches and the Top 4 advancing into Day 2. in which the final 8 teams play 8 matches throughout the day to determine the champion. The event featured a total prizepool of RM65,000 and held offline at ESI Hub, Spacerubix in Puchong.

Team KenotBrain, representing WP Kuala Lumpur emerged as the grand champion consisting of Ajimm, R4ii, Jemann, Samurai and SphinxLG as its roster with a total of 154 points, 2 points ahead of TokDalang (Johor) in 2nd place and 11 points ahead of Tactical Intex (WP Putrajaya) in 3rd. A few pro-level players also participated in this event such as XZACK (Todak) of team Tactical Intex and TheAxel (Expand) of team Fastkill Nov4.

Furthermore, just like the previous year, the LPL and LCK will have four seeds competing at the event. The LEC will also have four seed but its third and fourth seed will begin the event in the Play-In stage. Apart from the LCL, all recognized domestic leagues will have at least one representative at the World Championship.After an entertaining and competitive summer split, here are the teams that have qualified for Worlds 2022.<img src="https://cdn.owlscore.com/artilce/esportsgg/lpl-seed-1024x576.jpg">The LPL is one of the major regions heading to Worlds with four teams and they remain favorites to win it all. In PMPL South Asia Fall 2022, team High Voltage from 🇳🇵Nepal emerged victorious with only 27 points ahead from the likes of Deadeyes Warriors in second place. Godlike Stalwart and IHC Esports who are both giant Mongolian teams only managed to finish Top 4 with up to 47 less points in the overall leaderboard. As the Mongolian region dominates the rankings in the top-middle part, unfortunate for the only two Bangladeshi finalist teams were only able to secure 15th &amp; 16th.

As for PMPL Pakistan Fall 2022, i8 Esports proved themselves to be one of the top-tier teams in all of Pakistan as they finished with almost a 40-point gap ahead of Team QWERTY in 2nd place.
 



In a series of unfortunate events, there were some minor drama in the Pakistan scene where Quraysh Esports was caught using cheat tools in the final day of the Finals and was disqualified.
 



The top 10 teams from PMPL South Asia and top 6 teams from PMPL Pakistan have each advanced to the upcoming PMPL South Asia Championship Fall 2022 which will offer 3 more slots to the 2022 PMGC!

The pressure was on MAD Lions, the major region side, to perform if they were to avoid a repeat of their previous Worlds embarrassment. In 2020, MAD Lions became the first western side to not qualify through the Play-ins stage as they bombed out in the groups.For Isurus, this match was a chance to show that they were ready to challenge and push the major regions to play outside of their comfort zone. Isurus won a tight BO5 finals match against Estral Esports to secure their own Worlds spot and the first time for them to represent their region internationally in over three years (their last international appearance was Worlds 2019).The MAD Lions began by picking themselves an all in jungle-mid of Hecarim and Taliyah, a comfort for Elyoya and Nisqy while Isurus countered with Graves and Lissandra for Grell and Seiya. But it was the forty-four first second blood by Nisqy onto Isurus’ support Jelly that kicked off the match in true Worlds fashion. Nisqy cemented his mid lane stats, with a 72.7% kill participation throughout the match, proving why he was the LEC MVP of summer season.
