The gold laner is one of the five player roles in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which focuses on dealing damage.

As the name suggests, the primary objective of players in this role is to acquire gold as quickly as possible, allowing them to purchase items and scale well as the game progresses.

While the gold laner is typically associated with marksman heroes, mages can also excel in this role, and some fighters and assassins are viable depending on the enemy team composition.

In this ONE Esports guide, we list down the major duties of a gold laner, tips on how to do them effectively, and the best heroes for this role.

In the first five minutes of the game, special siege minions spawn in the gold lane, carrying a substantial amount of gold. It’s essential that you clear them all, but with caution to avoid unnecessary deaths.

As a squishy target, the enemy may try to gank you from time to time, so always keep an eye on the map. Likewise, your ally may do the same for you. As such, you can trade hits with your opponent and let your teammates back you up for a potential kill.

To gain advantage against your lane opponent in 1v1 encounters, use your skills and basic attacks to poke and force them out of the lane. Once you’ve established control, freeze the lane and only take last hits on minions for additional gold.

If you manage to take them down, push the lane and get extra gold from the outer energy shield turret.

If your enemy is stronger, it’s safer to hug your tower, or hide in a bush and wait for the dying minions to come closer for you to take the last hit. Remember, while last-hitting minions grants extra gold, it’s not worth risking your life for it. As a gold laner, survival is just as important as securing gold and kills.

As a gold laner, you need to maximize your gold income to stay ahead of the competition. Once you’ve cleared the special siege minions in your lane, you can move to other areas of the map to farm additional gold.

However, when taking jungle creeps, it’s important to consider your jungler‘s needs, as they require these monsters to strengthen their Retribution battle spell.

When moving to other areas of the map, be mindful of potential threats from enemy heroes. Always keep an eye on the minimap to see where your opponents are, and avoid engaging in fights when you’re outnumbered.

Additionally, consider having your ally roamer accompany you when farming in other lanes or jungle camps. They can provide protection and assistance in case of an emergency.

Your primary role is to deal damage to enemy heroes and structures. To accomplish this, you need to purchase items that will enhance your hero’s damage

When choosing items, it’s crucial to consider your hero’s skill set and playstyle. Most marksmen rely on physical attack and attack speed items to deal sustained damage over time, while mages require magic power and magic penetration items to unload burst damage on enemy heroes.

You can use the Pro Setups feature in the Preparation tab. This provides you with a list of recommended builds based on successful players’ item choices for different heroes. However, it’s essential to remember that these builds are not one-size-fits-all and should be adjusted according to the game’s specific circumstances.

You may also need to adjust your item build based on the enemy team’s draft and situation of the game. If necessary, purchase a defensive item to increase your survivability.

Turrets, Turtle, and Lord are important objectives in the game. As a gold laner, you are expected to help your team take them down so you can gain control of the game.

In the early game, you can assist your jungler in securing the Turtle if it spawns near your lane. However, you must be cautious and avoid overextending, as it can put you in a vulnerable position and make you an easy target for the enemy team.

If you feel that it’s too risky to contest the Turtle, focus on farming in your lane instead and wait for a better opportunity.

In the mid to late game, your team’s focus should be on destroying turrets and securing the Lord. As a gold laner, you play a crucial role in taking down turrets, for you can deal significant damage to structures.

However, always keep in mind that turrets and Lord can defend themselves and deal substantial damage, so you must approach them with caution. Ensure that you are attacking from a safe distance, which can provide you enough time to react if the enemy team tries to defend or contest.

Positioning is crucial for a gold laner during team fights. Your primary task is to deal damage to enemy heroes, but you also need to avoid getting caught out of position and killed.

One effective way to position yourself is to stay in the backline and wait for your team or enemy to initiate the fight. This allows you to attack your foes from a secure distance while your frontline allies absorb the enemy’s damage.

However, there are situations where you may need to be closer to your allies, particularly when there are enemies who can easily dive you in the backline. This allows your allies to protect you and create space for you to deal damage.

It’s also important to note that you may need to reposition yourself during team fights to avoid enemy skills or to follow up on an ally’s engagement. Having Flicker can help you quickly change your position and continue dealing damage from a safer location.

If you need magic damage in your team, take note of these mages:
