Barats, the Dino Rider, is a tank in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang with a passive that lets him change his size. Literally.

Called Big Guy, it stacks each time Barats deals damage to an enemy. Every stack increases his size and increases his physical and magic defense, making him a powerful frontline hero.

Even though his skill descriptions can be lengthy, fear not, for Barats is a beginner-friendly hero with three skills that you can easily combo.

Detona gains a stack of Big Guy for a couple of seconds each time it or Barats damages an enemy with their skills (up to several stacks).

Each stack of Big Guy increases Detona’s size and grants extra Hybrid Defense (scales with the level of Detona’s Welcome) and extra resilience.

At max stacks, Detona’s Basic Attacks will be replaced with Trample which deals with Physical Damage to enemies in a circular area, slowing them, and refreshing the duration of Big Guy with each hit.

Detona spits contaminated oil in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to enemies in a fan-shaped area. Barats then ignites the oil with a firecracker, dealing Physical to enemies in the area.

Barats fires two missiles at the target location, dealing Physical Damage and slowing enemies for a duration.

The missiles expel fumes from their exhausts upon landing, dealing Physical Damage to enemies in a rectangular area and pushing them toward Barats.

After a short delay, Detona charges in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to the first enemy hit, devouring and suppressing them for a few seconds before spitting them out.

If the target hits an enemy hero or a wall after being spat out, the target will cause an explosion, they and nearby enemies will take an additional Physical Damage and will be stunned for a duration.

Due to his insane durability and sustainable damage output, Barats can be an effective jungler hero. The Retribution battle spell can amplify his camp clear and allow him to contest in objective takes.

More than that, the battle spell, specifically the Ice Retribution variant, can improve his kill potential. This type of blessing allows you to steal movement speed from your target depending on your level for several seconds, making you agile while slowing them down.

This synergizes well with the hero’s skill kit which is focused on soft but continuous crowd-control with damage.

If not played as a jungler, Flicker is the next best battle spell option. This boosts the tank’s mobility and utility and allows you to land the Detona’s Welcome much easier.

Take Agility as the first-tier talent. This allows you to have more mobility, especially in the early game where you need to clear camps fast and continuously.

Seasoned Hunter is a great option for your second-tier talent especially when you are playing as the jungler of the team. The increased damage against the Lord and Turtle is undeniably helpful for the team as it gives you an advantage in objective contests.

Finally, go for Killing Spree as your main talent. After killing an enemy hero, you can instantly recover a percentage of your max HP and gain movement speed for a duration. This works wonderfully for Barats who has high HP and is at the frontlines.

With the instant HP regen, you can continue to dish out damage in the thick of fights while also having better mobility which is beneficial for chase scenarios.

After boots, prioritize getting War Axe to boost your damage output, and HP, and reduce cooldown. Mostly, the item’s passive, Fighting Spirit, is what you will be after here. When dealing damage, it grants you extra Physical Attack and Spell Vamp up to a certain number of stacks. It also allows you to deal True Damage at max stacks.

Quickly follow this with Hunter Strike. When equipped with the item, you will have better kill potential in the mid-game where your hero gains a power spike.

After these two Physical Attack items, build durability. Purchase Bruteforce Breastplate or Antique Cuirass depending on the enemy composition, and follow it up with Guardian’s Helmet to increase HP tremendously.

Complete your item build by taking Immortality for better measure.

The best build for Barats in Mobile Legends

In the early game, focus on getting your Big Guy stacks at its maximum to expedite your camp clear and increase your damage output for ganks. Do this by continuously using a combination of So-Called Teamwork, Missile “Expert” and Basic Attacks.

Remember that you need to reach maximum Big Guy stacks when you’re engaging the Lord or Turtle to better contest for the objectives.

In team fights, engage using your ultimate, Detona’s Welcome. Target squishy heroes like marksmen and mages, or playmaking heroes to hamper the enemy team’s teamfighting ability.
