Moonton Games recently revealed its comprehensive esports roadmap, providing a glimpse into the ambitious plans for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports in Southeast Asia and beyond.

One major highlight of this year’s esports calendar is the revamped Southeast Asia Cup (MSC).

In an announcement video shared on their YouTube channel, the developers not only announced the tournament’s new name but also delved into the reasons behind the changes made to one of their flagship events held annually.

According to Moonton, they aim to embody its “Esports for Everyone” vision in the tournament, fostering diversity and inclusivity to provide global athletes with the opportunity to compete in one of the most-watched esports tournaments worldwide.

To reflect this commitment, Moonton has rebranded the Southeast Asia Cup as the Mid-Season Cup, signaling an expansion beyond Southeast Asia to include more regions.

The tournament will be hosted outside Southeast Asia for the first time, featuring a larger prize pool and an increased number of participating regions, with China being among them.

In the period from MSC 2017 to MSC 2022, the tournament exclusively featured Southeast Asian teams.

However, MSC 2023 marked a significant shift by introducing three non-Southeast Asian teams — North America, MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and Turkey.
